I am planning to create a DIY active balancer with a rough illustration as shown below. I haven't drawn the gate driver circuit yet since I am manually designing it without software, but the driver is already installed in the actual circuit. Here's the description of my design:
I have tried manually creating the circuit for 1S and it worked, but when I tried to make it for 2S, a problem occurred where one of the MOSFETs became active on its own without being triggered by the gate, and the MOSFET became hot and damaged. My assumption is that this happened because my MOSFET circuit is still floating, and there might be errors in the pull-up and pull-down resistor on the gate. However, I am still not sure how to properly connect the pull-up and pull-down resistors.
Is there anyone here experienced with MOSFET switching or has worked on a similar circuit to mine? I need assistance in solving this floating issue. If needed, I will draw the circuit diagram of the driver I am using immediately.
Thankyou in advance

- The balancer is for a 3S battery (3 cells in series).
- Each positive and negative terminal of the battery has MOSFETs (B5 connected to Q5 Q6 Q7 Q8) that function to connect the battery to the energy tank temporarily (L1 and C5).
- MOSFETs like Q5 and Q6 are connected in anti-series (anti-series or back-to-back) to allow bidirectional operation.
- MOSFETs Q5 Q6 Q7 Q8 are controlled by the same gate signal.
- The driver used is the high-side MOSFET driver IR2117 for the upper MOSFETs (Q5Q6, Q9Q10, Q13Q14).
