I have bread-boarded a 555 timer based tone generator. I want to feed its output into a speaker or a pair of headphones. I have a 3.5 mm female audio jack but I can't figure out how to solder connections to it so that I can get audio in both the right and left channels.

For ANY of the sockets, (Female Audio Jack)

pin 1 is ground
pin 2 is Left Channel (tip)
pin 3 is Right Channel (ring)

Use Earphones or Speakers of Impedance (resistance) greater than 32 ohms for good results.
