I drew that VFD RJ45 circuitry and this diagram J12 configuration matches except pin 8. The RX and TX matches. The voltage is around 10V.
Pin 8 is fed to an opto LED side via resistor at the VFD side.
I dunno this is true but it could be that this opto indicates that the console is connected. Just a guess by looking at the above diagram.
I am still trying to get the console from the customer
