I am making this project which I found here

the problem is I am much new to this and need help in understanding the two circuits in they project. I know the components used very well. All I need is a simplified diagram of circuit with all connection joined. The broken connection are confusing me. If any one could redraw the two into one that would be a lot of help.

All the top connections go to the positive of the 9v battery, and all the bottom connections (with the ground symbol) to the negative -you can simply draw a horizontal line connecting all of them-. The LEDs connects in the same orientation -top with top and bottom with bottom-.
