(some text removed for clarity) Nothing is stoping you from posting the answer.
Apparently someone is not considering the introductory paragraph to Homework Help: “STUCK ON A TEXTBOOK QUESTION, SCHOOL PROJECT, FINAL YEAR PROJECT OR COURSEWORK? POST YOUR QUESTIONS AND ATTEMPTS HERE AND LET OTHERS HELP. NO ANSWERS WILL BE GIVEN, ONLY GUIDANCE.

hi @Halfpint786
As Dick points out, there is a clause in the T&C's, for Homework Threads that is clearly re-stated in post #21.

You agreed to abide by the T&C's when you registered as a Student, did you actually read the conditions.?

I don't understand the meaning of 'Challenge' in your Thread title.?

If you look back over the Homework section, the majority of questions are dealt with by a post, stating the TS must show his/her work, then we can help.

Use the Report box option if you have a problem with any Thread or Post, Moderation will take the appropriate action.

Perhaps the forum title should be changed to Homework Guidance.
It is starting to feel like obsession over a non-problem. Students want what they want and will brook no pedagogy or delay. The educators among us want to establish a policy of showing their work to encourage a change in behavior. These two positions are in conflict and there appears to be no simple resolution. That said the sponsors of the forum get to make the rules. If you don't like the rules there appear to be only two choices:
  1. Go somewhere else for the help you are looking for.
  2. Start your own forum with a different set of rules.
Evidence suggests that many students who do not immediately find what they are looking for here have gone elsewhere. Over 19+ years we have numerous examples of people with post counts in the single digits that have not been seen in over a decade.

We also note that there are few if any alternative forums where they might find what they are seeking. At least there are none that I am aware of that provide answers without restrictions or conditions.

Its discussing the general forum etiquette

I think the person that started this thread here should get a slap over the wrists !!

I'm not a "student" and I didn't even glance at the T&C's, so, just go ahead and remove my account. I'll log out now.
There's certainly been some confusion by some folks regarding whether you are a student or not. That's unfortunate, but it is what it is.

It's also unfortunate that you didn't read the various T&Cs, but that's the norm, so no biggie. It just means that you lacked the awareness of what they say, which is something that's correctable.

If you choose to not come back to the forum, that is, of course, your choice. Your account, and your posts, will remain since a forum is archival in nature. You are still welcome here if and when you decide to participate again.

MOD NOTE: It can probably be argued either way. By posting it here, it tends to attract the attention of that subset of the membership that regularly participate in this forum, but Feedback and Suggestions is conceptually a more proper place for it.

I'm going to go ahead and move it to F&S. Those people that have already participated will still get notified of replies, while in the future, searches will find it in a more reasonable place.

If I can post an opposing opinion. I like it here, even though it might not be the correct forum. A student might find it here while in F&S it probably won’t be seen by the people it would help. There ARE links to the sub-forum rules and by leaving the thread in Homework Help, they might be seen.

Possibly. But probably not. The thread is likely nearing the end of its life and so it will naturally fall onto later pages of the HH forum pretty quickly (while it will remain on the first page in F&S for a long time since that forum isn't very active).

Let me add a little, whether a member is a student or not is only a matter of formal definition. We are all students of one source of another, and I think being helped to figure out a solution is far better than just being given an answer in most cases.

Regardless of the above it the TS had read the introduction to Homework Help they would have known that a direct answer should not be expected from that part of the forum.

It is much better to understand that problem and solution than to just know the answer. (Hey! Please, nobody give me a hard time if sometime in the future I as a question and only need an answer :)

And to add a bit more, the rules are also the way they are because there IS a distinction between a "student" doing homework and the rest -- a student doing homework is (almost always) going to receive credit for what they turn in on the basis that it reflects THEIR abilities to solve the problem. If someone just gives them the answer and they jot that down and turn it in, then they are claiming credit for someone else's work. Not only does that rob them of much of the ability to learn from it (for reasons explained in a prior post), but it has also just enabled them to violate the academic integrity policies that nearly all institutions have. Neither of these is doing them any favors.

Note that this is NOT what @Halfpint786 was suggesting people do (although some others did).
