I worked for Philips when they invented the Compact Cassette Tape player and recorded all my music for free ever since.
Probably few recordings are purchased anymore. Lately I use Spotify for free.

I've found that people still collect records because the like the physical media and the process of listening to new and old stuff. New releases on vinyl are cool. Just make sure the player turns off the platter motor automatically in case you doze off in that nice comfortable listening chair.

In what turned out to be one more stroke of serendipity, Keith was feeling unwell the day he was about to cut his demo. “I was sick as a dog that day. I was coughing and sneezing and thinking; this is terrible,” he remembered. “I gave it the best vocal I could that day, and I sent it off. It’s a real raspy, sleepy, tired, sick vocal. I said, ‘Well now you’ve got a reference, and I’ll go back and put a vocal on it for you.'”

that was ... interesting ...
Yeah. It was like some other kind of artistic display that incorporated musical elements. But the message was pretty powerful. He has Lyme disease, only recently diagnosed, and spent the last 10 years slowly dying. He is only now receiving treatment and getting better.
