Sure, but that's probably a higher-level model than I the OP is prepared for, and the more important point I intended is that thinking through the problem analytically can help when confronted with confusing examples (as stated).
I find that sometimes people get afraid of a circuit not because it is dangerous but because it is a little more complicated then they usually encounter. That stops them from trying to think it through in a reasonable manner. If you can help them with that, i think that is very good
