Moot, have you tried the cascode scheme? We like feedback here.

Not yet, but I'm eager to try it (for obvious reasons). But at the moment, I have what I need to do my experiment. Let's just say there's a deadline looming, and that it may be a week until I can spare an hour to give it proper attention.
