I came across this in the latest edition of the Microchip Solutions newsletter and thought I'd pass it along. Microchip is offering a 50% coupon for a new PICKIT 3, ICD3, or PM3 when you send them a PICKIT 2, PROMATE II, or ICD2. Doesn't have to work, but does need complete probe or programmer. Link here. Expires end of February 2015.

I already bought a PICKIT 3, but I'm wondering if it is worthwhile to turn in my old ICD2 for an ICD3? Presumably, a ICD3 is guaranteed for life - as I understand it if it becomes obsolete, Microchip will replace it for free. Wish that was the case when I bought my ICD2, but oh well. Not sure if it is otherwise worth four times the cost of another PICKIT 3 though. Decisions, decisions . . .
