I am trying to find a programmer (something like the ICP2 or Equinox) that takes in .elf file (instead of hex file) directly and flashes onto the MCU. Basically such that the user doesn't need to manually convert it. Any suggestions of programmers, companies or other forums to inquire in?

Yeah, Thank you for providing clarity to the thread, it is a Atmel MCU.

 

I have never manually converted an elf file to a .hex file. I use a program to do that. If you use MPLABX it happens automatically when you build. So I see no problem that needs solving here.

 

If you need to program an Atmel AVR MCU, get a Pocket AVR Programmer.
