Micro mirrors without the micro...

Is there a mirror that moves on a single axis, from vendor or used in something canibalizable that you may know ?

Am after 45 degrees movement in about half a second, about 50 mm x 10mm mirror. Which is not micro at all.

It is to deflect a laser to sweep a target. Perhaps a voice coil mechanism ? Galvo ? What else is the industry using ? Motors, gears and servos may not last years of 24/365.

Does not need to be in an 'integrated circuit' package

A Starwars era laser projector made by now defunct Visulux used a mirror mounted on a galvanometer for vertical deflection. Most likely the galvanometer was supplied by Edmond Optical (Edmond Scientific at the time).

Thanks.
Can someone explain how does a handheld barcode reader works ? Seems that a laser is swept a certain angle continuously and repeatedly...
If there is models that sweep 90 degrees, it could work.

This shows it uses an oscillating mirror. That alone, where do I find it? I can disembowel a scanner too.

Getting closer... ----> https://www.solidrop.net/product/h1...r-scan-module-oem-diy-scan-engine-1d-ccd.html

Mount the mirror on the head actuator of a 3.5" hard disk drive. Remove the platters and electronics. If you need to control the position then bias it towards one end of the travel and control the position by the amount of current. Another possiblility is to use a model servo.

The back and forth motion might be a problem.
Maybe you could use a continuously rotating series of mirrors. 16 mirrors on a rotating shaft would give you a new mirror every 22.5° which would sweep the laser 45° per mirror. Now the motor/gearbox doesn't have to keep reversing direction.

Thank you.
Been working on the bones of a laptop hard drive, trying to secure the mirror to the head arm (voice coil) and would need only pulsing as it returns to 'park' by itself (good thing). Now I need to have steady hands and better vision to come up with a securing method.
Still believe in a handheld scanner. But never been inside one.

Who sells the clear+black moving mirror assembly (not the circled one) ?
