I am a little worried about your sensor. Will the settling time be quick enough? Why not use a more conventional MEMS version with a much faster time?

As for the acronym, to paraphrase Mark Twain, the rumors of your survival from AAC are exaggerated.

Which MCU are you planning to use?

How long are the tilt sensor?
The tilt sensor cell is about 45mm long. This is experimental and I have some 3-axis accelerometers and tilt sensors on order.

This is going to be a multi-processor system. I haven't selected any MCU as yet but I am comfortable with Freescale 9S08, TI MSP430, Atmel AVR, and STM32F. Eventually, I will would like a camera interface and some kind of wireless internet connection. A Raspberry Pi might find a use in there somewhere.

Not to worry. The tilt sensor is only experimental. If it does not work I will fall back on a solid state solution.

That was a 1/4" piece of scrap aluminum. That's why there are all those extra holes.
You could cut it with a jigsaw. I cut out the circle with the jig saw. The scrap piece was 10", a bit shy of the 11" circle I needed. That is why it is not a complete circle. I have access to a mill. The wheel slots were milled on the machine.
