I am new to maglocks and I am having a hard time understanding this. Recently I did a maglock swap and the way they wired the mag lock was power to + & - and the comm wires wired to normally open and common. How does it remain powered it it’s normally open. Shouldn’t be normally closed I’m confused..

How about pictures and more info? Type numbers, circuits.....
I think it was a Hess but I’m not positive I already replaced and wired it the same. I am just trying to wrap my ahead around it. Making me question my understanding of relays. In what situation would you wire it normally open with constant power?

It could be wired normally open with constant power as an access door that locks when alarmed. Our hall does that. When we use the hall, there is a switch that powers the door lock so all you need to to is push it open. But when alarmed, the power is removed and the door cannot be opened from the outside. An internal mechanical knob allows exiting.
