Hi, I'm looking at an old mixer circuit, which uses local oscillator injection at the source of the JFETs Q1 and Q2. Can anyone tell me what the advantages are to do it in this manner instead of applying the LO directly to gate of the JFETS instead? Also, is there a reason we don't see this anymore?
