Little help understanding why (or why not)?

If the starter is a problem you could connect a transistor to remove power to the gauges when the starter is engaged.

For LTspice files, the .sub or .lib file goes in the LTspice sub folder.
The .asy file goes in the appropriate LTspice sym folder (for the LM339 that would be the Comparator folder).

Right, there's no automated process for importing or "uploading". You just move the files around manually in Finder. You may need to restart LTspice to force it to reload the library.

My Comparator file has 42 choices and they start with LT1011. Quickly becomes LTC and ends with RH111.

I have found more files in an LTSpice folder. Even though I can open the asc files I don't know if they're models or examples. Anyone living in northern Utah wanna come over and have pizza and beer and show me how to do this stuff? I'm starting to get frustrated with this. Even YouTube isn't very helpful. Too much stuff is assumed I already know. Sadly - I don't.

Am I at least on the right track?

I'd walk you through it but unfortunately my Mac is suffering a possible drive failure and I can't boot. I don't remember it well enough to guide you by memory.

.asc files are simulation files.
.lib and .sub files are model files.
.asy files are schematic symbol files.

You need to move the new files to the appropriate folder, as I previously described, using the Mac equivalent of Windows File Explorer (the Finder I believe).
Perhaps something here will help you with that.
You have to find the folder that the files were downloaded to, and then move them to wherever the LTspice files are located in the Mac (it's in the LTC folder in Windows).
You can't do that from LTspice itself.

And the frustration grows. I love my Mac. However, it's not always easy to find where the folders went. Using "Finder" (Mac version of "system folders") I have to search for LTSpice in order to discover the spice main folder. Inside the folder is a bunch of files but no other files. And some of them are obscure, meaning I don't know their function to the system but I'm sure they're important, or they wouldn't be there. Moving files there means KNOWING what you're moving and moving EVERYTHING associated with the file you want to upload.

I'm trying everything I know. So far I've not stumbled across the right answer. But thanks for the help (everyone).
