Hello,

I am looking for a led driver to limit the current to a 12V led. Now I have a 12V battery that powers the led. The most led drivers I found is the current limit to not more than 10mA. How do I realize this?

Thanks in advance

What current does the LED need and why do you think you need to externally limit the currrnt?
We need a from 60mA to 200mA. I need to limit the current because in the power led is a led driver thing that adjust the light intensity by increasing or decreasing the current.

Can you clarify what you mean by this? Also, providing a link to the actual LED will be helpful. Is it an LED or an LED light or bulb?

here is a link to the led light: https://www.sealite.com/1-5nm-stand-alone-marine-lantern/
I want to design a pcb so I can choose the current through the lamp. I tried this led driver (https://be.farnell.com/diodes-inc/bcr421uw6-7/led-driver-aec-q101-linear-sot/dp/3127238) but it gots realy hot and gives a current from 10mA.

That IC seems to be simply the wrong choice for the load. On the other hand, it does include an REXT pin which allows selection of current up to 350mA—did you miss that?

I don't understand what you are trying to accomplish so I can't give you any advice on what would be better. Sorry about that.

Thanks for you reply. Yes I used the external resistor and tried a lot of diffrent values. I also tried to use a lower enable voltage but also doesn't effect the heat disipation.

Why do you think you need a LED driver for this item? Have you read the data sheet (below)?
It has built in electronics to control the mode of operation and is designed to be powered by a 12VDC source. This is a quote from the data sheet:
4. Battery Connection: Connect “Battery Negative (-)” wire to negative terminal of battery, and
“Battery Positive (+)” wire to positive terminal of battery.
Mains Connection: Connect negative and then positive wires to 12volt power supply (ONLY).

This is the data sheet:

There are switching driver chips made for those LED track light lamps that run off 12 VAC nominal (MR11, MR16). Default current is usually about 350 mA (1 W), but they have a control pin which can dim using PWM or from an analog voltage.
