When I power up my Bench power Supply (no matter what voltage) with no load attached the Ampmeter always says 5mA are flowing . After around five minutes of usage this current disappears. Any ideas what could be the problem?

What's the model of the power supply? Can you upload a picture? Sometimes these kind of variations are related to the display precision and the tolerance allowed. But 5 mA is too big to consider it a margin of error.

Unless the ammeter has a 5mA precision, not unreasonable for 1A or 5A meter.

It does say allow10mins to settle..!!

 

If you can, short across the ammeter leads and see if the same thing happens upon power up.

 

It could just be the meter settling, not actual current. Some component changing a little as it warms up.

 

What if after the current going down to zero, you turn it OFF and then ON again?
