We all know what we been doing. We all want to know what you been doing.

What's the new hobby?

Can you say in mixed company?

I mostly read posts here and in the physics forum, occasionally electronics and repair stuff. I seen your Thread start 4 min after it began but I was at work yesterday, good to see you, have a Great Christmas @#12 I was going to semi-retire this summer but they found a project for me that I can work on hopefully till I'm 65, I'm 62 in March. Between that project, including Tech support and room builds I think it will work for now at the Uni, I was going nuts not enough to do, I need to keep my mind and hands busy at all times, watching the clock kills me.

Basically once I move to my Dads house which is when I sell my house in Orem, I'll move to his and ship my brother out, hopefully this summer. Then I can get back to that Smoker Thread and it would be great to have your support with it. I still have all my parts bread boarded waiting for me to begin again. Good luck on your endeavors we all look forward to see some posts when or if you get time.

Thanks again for all you do,

kv

You're a mess when it comes to connecting blocks of a large circuit together! I still have the schematics I did for you on my desktop. I don't know...Wrong. I do know...the smoke detector circuit will NOT be calibrated correctly the first time you plug it in to a chimney. You should stay as a member at AAC so you can get help when you need it.

I didn't die and I don't hate you, or AAC, but I was spending way too much time on the Internet! I have cars to fix, a home to maintain, and landscaping to control. Then there is family, whom I don't really like, but I need to keep communication open there and mix with live humans on a regular basis, even if it's just for mental health. I had to break what was becoming a bad habit!

Yeah, I know what you mean... this place is nice, but it's like eating too much dessert! ...

Me too! but when I'm at work I have to look away from spread sheets and support tickets, so I read a lot about what others do here on AAC so I don't go crazy with the Mundane.
So, you use AAC as a break from boredom and I was using it as my primary activity, to the neglect of a lot of other things which needed attention. My behavior was starting to resemble an addiction. Plenty interesting here, and a lot of good, healthy mental activities, but there is a real world which simply must not be ignored as much as I was doing that. I had to break it hard!

I'll still wander by AAC, but I can't let it become my primary activity lest I let it get unhealthy.

Unlike other very active members of this place, I'm not retired, so my work demands my time and attention out there in the wilderness. I don't know what would become of me if I ever stopped working, I'd probably be drawn to an (unhealthy) addiction too.

Before they moved me to this Department, I had my own office, regardless of projects in my house on weekends I didn't work on circuits, and back then I spent 8 hrs a day in front of a computer screens, like I do now but I had an office to myself my mornings, afternoons, lunch hrs I could tinker on the Smoker Circuit, those were the days.

Now I'm in a boiler room full of people with no time to spend here, except occasional read or quick input when everyone else is out on support calls or room builds.

This is finals week, so the phone is quiet. The spread sheet I'm building is for asset management which keeps me off ladders, but staring at the screen gets unbearable. The only time I can stretch my legs is break time, they would never let me tinker on circuits either, Micro-mangers.

Glad to hear from you again.
It's less interesting here without you dropping in occasionally.

So you need to put a timer on the computer.
You are one of the more opaque personalities here. I don't know if we would enjoy each other over a beer, but I could just puppy dog you for the interesting and novel circuits you post!
The fact that you noticed me comes as a compliment. Thank you.

I suppose that's not a surprise observation to me. I guess I'm somewhat of a typical introverted (and curmudgeon) engineering type, and am generally not verbose with people I don't really know. But I do like conversation with people I do know, especially if they have a little technical knowledge, or otherwise can talk about something besides themselves.
So I think a beer with you would be interesting. :)

Thus I generally just sit back until I see a problem of interest here (especially if it involves an unusual circuit requirement), and when I reply, I usually just "state the facts" as best I know them with a minimum of words.

Hi guys. I signed in to check an old Thread about triacs as I make a shopping list for Mouser.
My bedroom thermostat took a dump. Thermistor based, well...

Nothing wrong here, no germs, no injuries, no emotional distress.
I merely decided to change hobbies for a while...nothing personal, unless you want to include my personal habit of changing hobbies every few years.
No reply required.
Happy Christmas!

The name, "Phil" doesn't make sense right now. Is, "Phil" another name for @Kirmp ? and you're asking #12 (me) if I received your request?

The answer is: I checked back as far as Nov. 16th and no, I have not received your request.

Further searching shows that @Kirmp has no other posts on AllAboutCircuits. This entire conversation seems to be a mistake.

Kirmp just joined less than a week ago. No posts in electronics anyway. Very odd.
