On a side note : I would love to write like HP does.
I've been inspired to work on improving my writing skills largely from her and a few others examples I see online in various forums. ;)

That, and I don't want to look like I am 'dumbing myself down' as others examples have shown them to be doing for who god knows what reasoning.

HP kind of gives me permission to use whatever word I am thinking without fearing that I am the most difficult to read person here.:D
I am very aware that we deal with everything from ESL people to very educated people on this site. Finding the level of a new poster is always a guess in both language skills and electronic skills. You just have to take a stab at it and see what the response is.

'English as Second Language' or 'Extremely Slow Learners'

We have both so ESL may need clarification depending on whom you are referring to at times. Especially if 'ESL' was to contextually imply the opposite end of "very educated".

Even more so when dealing with those who fain general ignorance to outright stupidity and a total lack of reading ability as if basic English was a foreign language to them to get out of admitting they were wrong.
Doubling down on what ESL could mean all in one person so to speak.

Dick Van Dyke said no one ever told him how bad he was murdering a supposed 'English' accent in Mary Poppins, so bad his name has become a synonym in the UK for bad actor. (But they like him anyway).:p
