The servo motor shown below is used in a treadmill. It happens that when I start the machine, the motor doesn't start until I push the belt a little bit. It's like I have to help the motor start itself by moving the belt with my feet. After it starts, it continues working well. Does this mean a problem in the controller, or a problem in the motor? I want to be sure before I start troubleshooting the servo controller board.

 

Remove the load (belt etc) and see if the same occurs.
Could be possible too much friction for the initial voltage applied in order to rotate.

It means "leave it alone" until you have a real problem.

I removed the belt, and the same. It gets stuck at startup. It needs like a little impulse.

 

Does the rotor turn and spin freely?
The stator may have to be disconnected to test this.

I'm not an expert regarding these types of systems but maybe the motor is single-phasing?
