Well anyways I'm completely throwing out the current source idea. After a bit more research it seems like it will be very straightforward to go microcontroller > mosfet driver > mosfet to create the square wave I need.
You guys are very smart and helpful thank you so much for all the advise. I'm happy to do the research myself but it really speeds things up to get pointed in the right direction!
