This cut isn't due to decreased sales. Big companies have been doing this for years. And now the small companies are doing it.

Now the company will lobby congress, saying they can't find enough qualified personal.

MS has been doing this for years.

Now they are granted special visas, which allow importing foreigners at half the rate.

But that is not the big pay off.

Do you have any idea of the power this gives an employer over an employee?

I worked for a company about 15 years ago with two of these visas. Today, ALL of the engineers AND ALL of the techs are foreigners.

Living and working here on visas.

Meanwhile the US has the highest un-employment numbers in history.

Anyone who believes in US fed numbers on anything, is an useful idiot.

A 10 % layoff is not that big of a deal. It normally is the perfect number to efficiently get rid of the people who just are not cutting it and to inspire the remaining people.
Exactly right. It's always tough but it's a rare company that isn't better off without its lowest 10th percentile employees. Amongst that group are genuine troublemakers, whiners, malcontents and such. Toxic workers that aren't just doing nothing but can actually lower the productivity of those around them as well. As a manager you're not doing anyone a favor by keeping these folks on the payroll. Many will be much happier in their next job.

On a similar note, Twitter announced that its stock has dropped another 16%.

The city of San Francisco gave Twitter a load of tax breaks and other perks to locate its headquarters here (and artificially drive up rents and home prices to boot). Hopefully the company will finally go down the drain and the ruinous phony economy will collapse.

How will Donald Trump spend his evenings without Twitter?
