The only times I matched the impedance of a signal source to the input of a transistor amplifier was when the signal source is a low impedance dynamic microphone or a radio signal. All other times the signal source has a medium impedance and my transistor amplifier has a fairly high input impedance or the transistor is bootstrapped for a very high input impedance or I use a Fet that has an extremely high input impedance.
