Inductor, induction

Can I ask? What is wire wound inductor? Because I translate this words and they looks like this phrase: "σύρμα πληγή πηνίο". I didn't understand what is that about but if I remember well, if you will change the current flux of the inductor, will change and its inductance. Because if for example I will give +5 -5 +5 -5 volt or for example +500 -500 +500 -500 mA to inductor it will increase its inductance! This phrase "σύρμα πληγή πηνίο" means (I will try to translate)
σύρμα: cable, wire.
πληγή: wound, (when a boy get accident it takes wound (when a part is a bit wounded and flows some blood from this part (hand)))
πηνίο: inductor
It's all Greek to me!:)

(Sorry, I couldn't help it.)

Ah, soo!

That is what is the question?

How does the inductance change when you squeeze the windings together vs when you stretch out the windings?
that is, compress the coil vs expand the coil?
Hi,

I am not sure if you are asking me or someone else, but if we had a coil with two turns 1 and 2 separated by a distance D and both turns were energized and then the power source removed, the field produced from turn 1 would produce a current i1 in turn 2, and that current would depend on the distance turn 1 was from turn 2, and since the intensity decreases with distance, if we increase the distance we decrease the field and we decrease the current so there must be less self inductance.
We can also imagine having the two turns separated by a large distance connected by a lossless wire, and with a very large distance the field from one turn would hardly affect the other turn so there would have to be much less inductance than when they are very close to each other.

Hello,

For air coils you could have a look here:
http://info.ee.surrey.ac.uk/Workshop/advice/coils/air_coils.html

This is only one of the links from the EDUCYPEDIA page on coils:

Bertus
Bertus thank you very much for all, and for "Doctor Strange", and for all who helped me! Thank you all, and I hope you will all be happy, because I understand your "weight" to answer to many peoples! I wanted to thank you all so much, that I can't explain with words! You all you are the best peoples, and I hope, nothing will make you feel bad, because sometimes one or two or maybe all of you have your bad days! I hope you will be very happy guys :)

Hi,

Let me guess, "It's all English to you", right? ha ha :)
XD nice one! Yes I have a problem with English language and I hope so I will not be turned to England hahaha ;) I'm from Greece there I was born there I grew up! All there :D I understand a bit the English language but I can't speak (that's problem) XD

Guys, I have one more question! If the coils of a coil or inductor or how it's called, is wound irregularly, the coil will work; If yes, then great! If not, why not; Or if, for example, the coils are irregular and worked, will work equally well with a coil, or inductor, having coils perfectly tuned;

My English is understandable? If no I will send some pictures to explain what I'm about!

Yes, the inductor will work fine if they are irregularly wound.
The advantage of a regular winding in even layers is that more wire can be wound in a given volume, giving more inductance for a given inductor size.

OK, listen what I want to make! I wanted to make my own ignition coil that looks like this in picture! Will this work or I did something fault? The secondary coil is turned around the iron core (some pieces with "I" shape from a transformer), which is covered by an insulation (insulating tape). The primary coil is turned around the secondary coil but have 3 or 5 mm clearance (air) (ooh the problem is that I don't know exactly how many turns have each coil! Can I measure them with some formulas?). I want to make an ignition system of a car and I don't know, will this project work successfuly! What you think?

What you think it will work? Because I tested the coils for the led and it works very well! But I wanted to make this ignition system for experiment! Or all this I sent is not many informations about inductor? Maybe i need to send more informations! Contact me if something goes wrong!
