Increasing AMPs on a car regulator

If it's an Alternator it will be fixed inside, if it's a Dynamo they use external regulators, and can be tweaked to give more out.

Replace it with one rated at a higher current; and make sure the wiring can handle it.

The alternator should be marked with 3 ratings: idle amps, rated (max) amps, and test voltage. To get maximum current, engine RPM needs to be around 6000.

ok thank you very much this means you cant crank the one already installed the only solution is to change it

its a dynamo how to tweak it any idea

They use an external Lucas regulators, using relays that are mechanically set with springs,

I usually remove the regulator and make my own electronic one.
