Can any one show me how to calculate the circuit reactance of impedance (Z) of a reactive circuit is known to be 500 ohms and it has resistance is 400 ohms.

impedance^2= resistance^2 + reactance^2

or:
Impedance = z; reisitance =r; reactance =x
then cos(phi)= r/z
z.sin(phi)=x

impedance=z is known,
resitance=r is known.

reactance (X) is given by : square of X = square of (z) - square of (r)
take sq root of (square of (z) - square of (r)) and you have value of x.
