Can you please help me identify this. It has Bakelite casing. It has a plug at one end and a socket at the other. It has Ring Grip, 250v and 10A stamped on it. The cord has a fabric cover. It was found on a farm. I am in Australia. Thank you in advance.

I have asked a couple of neighbours who have suggested it was possibly used for an electric fence or some type of surge protector or used for changing voltage from a generator to household electric supply or used for a sewing machine ?? Sorry I may be using incorrect terminology ?? It has just captured my curiosity and I appreciate your interest and any knowledge you can share.
