For any threads you responded to before you turn off email, you'll still receive email. You have to manually unwatch those threads to stop email.

 

In the e-mail notifications you receive there is an option to disable all e-mails from AAC. Try clicking that.

There is also a way to unwatch all threads -- but I don't remember exactly where it is at and I didn't find it in a quick search just now.
