Wife having trouble opening her mail. Well, not trouble - a complete road block. I suspect it may be either a setting or perhaps two different programs working against each other. She's rebooted and scanned for virus' numerous times. No viri found. No results.

When she tries to open a file the only way she can successfully open it is by right clicking and then select "Open With", then, and I didn't notice what program she opened it with, it opened. She hates Apple, which I love, she LOVES Windows - which I hate ever since XP went away.

Any adivce?

Sounds like default settings needs tweaking.
Go into Settings and select default apps or search for it in the search bar, find the application you need and then select the best app to open it with.

Just had a similar issue here. Turns out MY wife uploaded (unwittingly) a program called "Wave Browser". Removed it and everything seems to be back to normal. Have your wife - or you - check into that. If you still have issues, call me.

I've never heard of wave browser. But yes, it looks like problem solved.

That's likely part of what happened. She doesn't always understand alerts and ends up getting herself into difficulty. Changes the settings on her printer every time a cat walks on the buttons of the printer. She thinks she needs to go in and change things. Then the yelling starts. Poor printer. Poor computer. For a long time she's been wanting a second monitor. Today I went in her office and started pushing things off the desk so I could set up a second monitor. She swears she's going to clean her office. Trouble is after she's cleaned it she discovers new places to stack stuff. Then we're right back to where we started.
