I am trying to demystify the MY2 Relay

Anyone an expert with the common 8 pin Relay? I want to input 12 VDC into the coil and open or close the 2-pole switch.....

so what exactly is the problem?
get relays with 12VDC coil. as i recall some variants of MY2 have indicator LED built into the relay (most just show state mechanically) so if that is the case watch for correct coil polarity.

Thanks for replying. I just watch a tutorial on the MY2. I purchase two relays with bases for a project and realize now that they are 120 / 240 VAC coils. I ordered the 12 VDC replacements. The issue was the wiring of the pins. I watch this tutorial and he cleared that up for me. I was a little premature in posting earlier. I am sure there will be other questions. I am new to automation ideas for projects and to relays in general.

Thanks, again

So I do have an additional question. Can I use only ONE side of a DPDT relay. In other words, I want to use a sensor to send 12 VDV to coil to turn power on to a 120 VAC device? I hope I am making some sense with the question. As if I wanted to use a DPDT as a SPST.... I would think as as they are two switched side by side. But I am not sure.

if it is DPDT the two poles are switched together.
So if you only need one pole, you can still connect the two poles in parallel so you divide the current going through the contacts, so they last longer.

In some cases you can use the 120vAC relays on 12vdc, just check the DC resistance of the coil to see if the current is low enough.

There is, or at least there WAS, a standard 8-pin arrangement of relay contacts. Likewise for DPDT and 4PDT relays.
Then another producer of MUCH CHEAPER quality relays started producing poorer quality relays with a really goofy connection pattern. I avoid using that brand of relays. Their connection lugs are very flimsy.

Thanks, MisterBill2.

These are from Amazon, and are branded as VAMRONE. Thje relay a VAMRONE YJ2N-LY and the base a YJTF08A.

Could be the ones are a referring too. I think Onrom is a good product.

Onrom sounds like a middle east copy of Omron (like Adibas). In that case that is NOT a good product :D.
Omron on the other hand have real quality equipment.

I see markings on the relay socket that appear to be standard electrical labels . That is better than any other scheme for those able to read and understand them.
