Should be easy, but I have failed so far.

I am attempting to replace the very old (1985?) BT socket above with a new "splitter" socket as below from Amazon. link

ADSL socket.png

I removed the old box, noting the wiring/colours to 2,3,and 5.
I connected in the same sequence to the new box - nothing - line dead
So I reconnected to the old socket - working fine

????????

Did I do it incorrectly?
Have I got the wrong type of box?
Is the new box faulty?
?

Thanks for looking, any help appreciated.

Yes the line is on pins 2,5 and the bell extension on pin3.

You need to put the front plate on to make the connection to the output sockets...

I put the front plate on and get a line from the phone side of the new socket.
But no broadband from the other side??????
(I just used 2 and 5)

So I put the old splitter/filter cable back into the phone side of the new socket, connect up phone/broadband to the 2 outlets and the phone works and the broadband connects.

Any ideas?????

Wrong box?
Faulty box?
Faulty me?

Oh, I have disconnected the BT box on the instructions of Plusnet.

Thanks for the advice

Any chance of a link to one of those - just to make sure I get the correct box.

Thanks again (from a Fulham supporter )
