Worth the risk attempting to replace the battery on a Kindle?

Hi,
I have a kindle for the last 12 years. Currently its battery is not keeping well the charge. If I put the device in wifi or Data mode the charge depletes overnight. Saw a disassembly video last night in YouTube on how to replace it's battery. Worth taking the risk?

p.s:
Already sent it to Amazon for battery replacement but they labelled it not economically viable to change the battery. I wonder whose economy they are telling about. I recently attended an electronics course. My bluetooth soundbar is lying useless out of my curiosity.

Just now had a call with Amazon.in again and they promised me to resolve the issue ASAP. Let's see how fast is Amazon in this. I have stressed the word 'Sentimetally Attached' thrice in that call.

The main question is the ability of the TS to "safely" dis-assemble the Kindle, exchange the battery, and re-assemble it. Certainly it would not be economical to have the work done by a high priced "professional" who was actually qualified to do the replacement project.
I have repaired quite a few "non-repairable" devices over the years and usually it is a matter of time involved, and to some extent skill levels required. And certainly a major requirement is having the patience to carry out all of the small detailed parts of the project.

What have you got to lose?

I don't know about Kindles, but it took a number of case tools for me to open a Galaxy Tab 3. Guitar picks are your friend.

I've replaced the battery in my Samsung S5 several times. It's from an era where they made it easy. Can open the cause without using any tools, just fingernails.

Battery change event postponed temporarily as the kindle holds 5 days of power on aeroplane mode.

I doubt any company is going to give a hoot about your sentimental attachment to a device. Fact of life - all things come to an end. Even our sun will one day come to an end. I have strong sentiments about that.

As for being worth the risk; if the tablet is worth that much to you, monetary or sentiment, you can always operate it from a plug-in wall wart. Just keep an eye on the temperature. My OLD MacBook Pro laptop gets warm on my lap. After less than one hour it's hot enough to make me sure I want to shut it off. Or at least get it off my lap.

Replacing just a battery is different from replacing a battery pack that includes a lot of circuitry. a bit less hazardous. But of course the job includes the precautions needed to get it right.
