LOL I was teaching HS when I got my first Flip Phone and had the kids in class show me how to use it. I am not working very hard at not being a dyed in the wool Luddite.

Just for you, I looked up, "Luddite".
I guess people who grew up with horses and knew how to work with them thought skeptically of automobiles, but cars go a lot faster and they don't have to be fed every day, even when you're not using them. That's how I am after spending copius amounts of my life teaching myself analog electronics. At this point in time, almost all of analog can be replaced with digital except the interface between the physical world and the MCU. If I get reincarnated, I will learn the digital world and let Luddites design the interfaces for me. LOL!

Edit: This is the weather Thread so, somebody changed the forecast. I now have another day to install the doors on the shed before the temperature goes to 41F in Florida, not the 36F that was forecast for Tuesday. So glad to get the roof done! (Climbing ladders makes my legs hurt.)

A squall line is a fast moving front with high winds. Hard and fast then gone. Blizzard is like a hard soaking rain. Long and steady.

Snowfall can be heavy/wet falling in clumps to superfine dry dustlike. Blizzard will last 12 or more hours and dump up to ~3' of snow. Squall a few hours and ~1' or so with high winds. Heavy snowfall is eerie as it muffles sound and is very quiet, unlike rain.

I have a sister in law who's norwegian. If I remember correctly, they have about 17 different words for "snow" ... the land definitely has an impact on language and culture...

It has been raining nonstop for over 24 hours now and the river is rising so Flood Watches are in effect here in the low country. Which means US 17 crossing the delta will go underwater at high tide. Saw somewhere on the news that it is the "Pineapple Express" whatever that is. I've heard of the Arctic Express and if it's coming from the south maybe the "Banana Express".

Just to keep y’all updated. It was 71° and sunny in Boston yesterday. People were heading for the beaches! In Orlando, it’s a bit warmer, 85°

Nice. Highs of -21c today, forecasted lows of -37c next few days. We are hibernating for the week. Hopefully warm up enough to get out on the skis next week.

Yesterday we set another record of 70 F. Today it is currently 32 F. Problem is every time it warms up it is wet and raining. Right now they are calling for 55 F on Wednesday and partly sunny skies. Now if that works out I see me getting the bike out of the garage for a little spin. Normally Cleveland, Ohio in January is frozen. We have seen very little snow this year, my neighbor does snow removal and salting and is not doing well so far this year. Then too, not unusual to see snow till St. Patrick's day in mid March.

Big storm on the way, another snow day for the city if it hits early enough. I better cook some food in case I lose the power. Most of the city will freeze to death without power for a few days I guess. I wonder what the emergency plan is supposed to be ?

Hot and windy ... weather's back to normal down here. We're celebrating Easter, which for Christianity is a more important day than eve Christmas itself.

Today's beer is the perfect brew for such a dry, hot day:
