How's the weather?

Truly crazy weather this morning. 59°F outdoors, and 81°F indoors. That's my kitchen's wall of course, actual indoors temp is closer to 77°F, but it tells you about the extreme changes sometimes we get down here.

Yup it's wintertime in GA. Duck season starts on Thanksgiving day. Sometimes I'd have to wear waders into the swamp, sometimes it was too hot for waders.

Finally getting snow, we've got plenty in the Mountains but not in the Valley, they say it'll be snowing till Sat or Sun, expecting 5 to 6 inches. I've been working on the house during my Days off, I'm trying to finish up inside stuff. I still have to work on the outside, but the sprinklers are in and I'm ready to begin ripping out shrubs, cutting down a tree, install a fence in the front yard come spring.

@killivolt
Already had two snow falls. First was about 3 inches second about 6. The heavy wet kind, the kind the snow blower doesn't like very much. On top of that my auger is stuck on. So to clear a clog I have to completely shut down the motor.

People say you are supposed to - but my blower has a brake system that when you don't hold the trigger the auger stops. AND I have a plastic chute shovel to clear the snow with. So to all - don't worry, I'm not going to be sticking my fingers in there unless the machine is absolutely shut down and on the work bench. (somebody's going to chastise me though)

About the same here in NE Ohio. My neighbor and friend does snow removal and salting. His motorcycle and lawn tractor is wintering in my garage and he plows my property free. We just exchange favors which works for me. :)

They were saying we're supposed to wake up to "overnight" snow. Looked out the window. Nothing yet. @killivolt is further south of me by about 60 miles, so maybe he's getting some and it just hasn't reached this far north yet.

Some snow coming back last night, woke up this morning to a couple inches on the ground, beginning to thaw. Slept in this morning, but had to get up around 4ish then 5ish then 6ish, cat was bugging me to go out. I think she's looking for another cat, it's probably been sneaking in to eat food from her dish. It's been so cold I put the cat door down, seen it the other day by the door. I think I should put some food out for it today, maybe open the garage door, either that or try to trap it and take it to the pound.

We have two cats. One, the "Ring Leader" gets us up every morning Monday through Friday regardless of work schedules or not. Usually between 5 and 5:30 AM.

I think it's cool that you help out the strays. I have a couple that come around. Seen them several times on my security cameras. Summertime they like the bird bath for drinks at night. Daytime they stay away because Midnight is rather protective of her turf. The neighbor next door keeps a tarp over her table. Doesn't provide much warmth but it does shelter from wind and rain / snow. Haven't been to the window to see if we've gotten anymore. Been playing computer games much of this morning.

Last Saturday I disassembled my snowblower for routine maintenance and to install new belts. Noticed the scraper bar had worn down quite a bit - even into the bolts that held it on. Had to friction wheel cut them off. Went to the local small engine repair shop where they have all that stuff. The guy said he'd have to order my bar and they were out of the size belt I needed. He said it would be in on Monday. Come Monday - no parts. They were unexpectedly closed on Tuesday, but not a problem. We're not expecting snow until Friday (today). Well, come Wednesday - again, no parts. Thursday was the same thing. Here it is Friday, and fortunately the snow they predicted has been falling as rain, and should stay rain till early Saturday morning. I'm hoping they get the parts I need for my machine so I can put it back together and move the snow down my 100 foot long, 16 foot wide driveway. I DON'T want to do it by shovel. Especially if it's a wet snow. I'm too old for that stuff.

Rain today turning into snow over night. Expecting 2 to 6 inches. Of course, when they've said that kind of thing before we've gotten hardly a skiff of snow (real thin layer). But on the other hand when they've said we'll be spared, we got a strike. 10 inches each from three different storms. But that's been many years since that happened. However, I sure am glad I don't live in the mid-west where the arctic air blasts have been coming down and where these minor storms that pass over Utah turn into raging storms from the mid-west all the way to the east coast.

Cold and gray. I figure things will improve around the May / June time frame. That's about how it normally goes around here in Cleveland, Ohio. Wasn't there a time when members location showed if a member wanted it to?

It does show, but now only when you click on the member's avatar.

Sounds like Ice Storm time... There's a good joke about the guy traveling south on I-95 with a snow shovel strapped on top of his car waiting until someone asked what the heck that thing was so he'd know where to move to. But I can't tell it here LOL.

That's right. Just seemed easier when it shown in the avatar box.

As to weather? Rain currently changing to snow or some sort of slop. Actually pretty warm at about 35 F. Have a Christmas dinner/party this evening for my HOG club (motorcycle club) chapter with this weather expected all weekend.

It's winter in Florida which means outdoor chores. Yay, exercise!
I built two saw horses and a scaffold, then mopped 5 gallons of sealer on the top of the aluminum shed. (I just hate cars and sheds that rain on the inside!)
Then I jacked up the 49 square foot Rubber Maid brand plastic shed (which I got for free) and added some floor support. For my next act, I think I'll get the 28 foot ladder assembled and trim some tree limbs...or maybe I'll just paint the back door.

Meanwhile, I decided to improve my Variac box with a digital volt meter. So I logged in to AAC, changed my mailing address, and promptly locked myself out. I already emailed jrap to ask for assistance.

My computer is so old that when I click the confirmation email, it doesn't send, so I created this sock puppet account with a neighbor's computer. I assume jrap can fix this for me and I promise not to change my email address until I get a newer computer.

Happy Christmas!

And you didn't stop to say hello :( ... :p

Glad to hear all's well with you #12 ...:)

And you didn't stop to say hello
I sent you an email at your yahoo address two days ago asking you to post a distress call to the moderators. So, yes, I did say hello. You just haven't checked that account lately.;)ps, I have 2 days to get the plastic shed put back together before the heat index goes to 36F. After 40 years in Florida, I feel like a reptile when the temperature goes below 50F. Anyway, when I had it jacked up I discovered that I put the roof on swapped left for right. After I reverse the roof panels they will lay down properly because they will fit the tab and slot system correctly.:eek:As you can see, jrap has not cured my problem with the #12 account. AAC software still wants an email confirmation which this computer will not do. Grrr! Am I going to have to buy a computer for the first time ever? That might be the only cure for a 20 year old Windows Vista computer that still works pretty well.:(ps again: I lost strantor's email when this computer crashed a few weeks ago. My fault. I got lazy about backups because I haven't had a computer crash for years.

OK! It's sunrise now and I can get to work reversing the roof panels on the plastic shed.:)
