Just for you, I looked up, "Luddite".LOL I was teaching HS when I got my first Flip Phone and had the kids in class show me how to use it. I am not working very hard at not being a dyed in the wool Luddite.
So... a squall is basically a brief blizzard?A squall line is a fast moving front with high winds. Hard and fast then gone. Blizzard is like a hard soaking rain. Long and steady.
I have a sister in law who's norwegian. If I remember correctly, they have about 17 different words for "snow" ... the land definitely has an impact on language and culture...Snowfall can be heavy/wet falling in clumps to superfine dry dustlike. Blizzard will last 12 or more hours and dump up to ~3' of snow. Squall a few hours and ~1' or so with high winds. Heavy snowfall is eerie as it muffles sound and is very quiet, unlike rain.
Nice. Highs of -21c today, forecasted lows of -37c next few days. We are hibernating for the week. Hopefully warm up enough to get out on the skis next week.Just to keep y’all updated. It was 71° and sunny in Boston yesterday. People were heading for the beaches! In Orlando, it’s a bit warmer, 85°
