Don't have to worry about snow here, just the San Andreas deciding to wake up and suddenly move my neighborhood a few yards North.
Edit: The bad part is that the movement is a step function in a highly underdamped system.
I remember a few of those from my time in Ca.. They always say stand in a door frame but I always walked into the wall instead. :D

The fun part for me was getting so used to little earthquakes that I wasn't concerned when I was walking into a rent-a-shed place and the whole row of garage doors went, "thump thump thump thump thump thump thump".:D
Then there was the, "no need for air conditioning" and a nearly complete lack of disagreeable people.:)

Massive non event coming on Sept. 30!
A, "black moon".
Never heard of that before!
Two new moons in a calendar month.
Watch closely to not see it.:D

Meanwhile back at the ranch...thunder-boomers every afternoon this week.
Makes mowing the lawn very inconvenient.
Wet grass sticking all up under the lawn mower.
Making sounds like the crankshaft is going to come out the side.:(
Heat index still doesn't go below 90F until 7 pm.
Darn Global Warming!

Wait. It's like this every September.
Never mind.:p

When I went to the dentist yesterday, I smelled...winter in the air!:)
The Fahrenheit temperature is going to be below 90 all week.
Trust me; below 90 is the first sign of winter in Florida.:p

Meanwhile, it looks like a hurricane is going to eat Miami, but not me.

11 AM advisory pushes Matthew's track slightly east vs. 8 AM. It'll be nice if the trend holds, especially since the previous advisories have been trending west.

We are now under a hurricane watch.

Well, you saw the commercials .... It's better in the Bahamas.

Joeyd999 and @12 keep alert. I'm sure the forum members will be tracking Matthew's course and check your postings ... take care,

And tomorrow, it's going to be flatter.:(

Yeah, I really need to trim that tree branch that was whacking my antenna.

joeyd will have to watch out for trees, boats, and highway signs whacking his house.
Hmm, moving east now. What you need is some mountains between Melbourne and Tampa.

Not gonna happen.:(
Florida (America's Wang*) is really a sandbar.
There are two spots (about the size of tennis courts) higher than 300 feet. They are on the borders of Georgia and Alabama.
The rest of the state is so flat, the only places you can get a fun car ride is where the road goes over a culvert.:D
Still, the trees and lack of hot ocean water make hurricanes weaken as they travel across the state.
The only way I'm going to be homeless is when a hurricane wanders north in the Gulf of Mexico and hooks a right into Tampa.

Meanwhile back at the ranch, F temps below 90 all month. Heat index 106F today. Having difficulty trying to mow the lawn between rain showers and partly cloudy. I'll know when the hurricane is close by the clouds forming arcs across the sky.
