Hey everyone!
My friend just got this logo sign.
He wants me to get it going for him.
Any ideas on how. I've started studying small DC electronics. But it says 12v /50hz.
So AC right?

Looks like it, i would take the cover off and look inside, leds use DC, maybe there is a bridge rectifier inside.

Right, but what do you mean by "get it going"?
Is there something wrong with it?
Do you have its transformer?
What's the mains voltage and frequency where the sign will be used?

It "should" be expecting a 12VAC power supply with a current capacity greater than 270mA...

If its 12VDC then they are technically in violation of the UL listing as they are missing the DC source mark and need to put 12VDC not 12V..
12V is assumed to mean AC...

They are also no longer a UL customer as they do not come up in the online certification directory either anymore..

The company seems to still be around though..

He texted me saying he got it going, I asked how and he replied "he got a cable and plugged it in". So maybe he just got a DC power brick? I'm unsure but it's all done now. Thanks for your help everyone. Very fast forum. Thanks
