I have bought a SMD5050 3-LED 20 units module from ebay (one similar to this). I also have a 12 V 2 A power adapter. I intend to use these as lighting for my aquarium. Can someone help me explain how to wire these in the simplest manner (no flashing/dimming/remote required)? The 20 units module has open ended pairs of wire on both ends..

Just put the open wire ends to your psu, Noting Polarity!! the leds have built in series resistors, so depending on the current on each individual module will determine the total current from your psu.

You mean the pair on end to be connected to psu and the pair at other end to shorted?

No, just use one pair of wires and leave the other end blanked off, or parallel both ends together for maximum current.

No. That would short out the supply. The connections at each end are connected together so you can connect the supply to either end.
