Hi all

I built the following up/down circuit using 40110 counter.

I need to turn lamp on if the counter value not equal to 0 else the lamp should turn off.

I used nand gate to do that. Is it ok ?

Yes. Segment F and /G should uniquely indicate a decimal zero.

Any problem occur if I connect the inputs of the nand directly to f and g outputs of the counter ?

 

No problem , just connect directly to the counter, all four inputs will be High therfore the Nand output will be Low when both counters are at zero.

 

I asked to ensure the seven segment display not affect by adding nand gate
