How to navigate a maze? What should I use?

Luckily for me this is not the case, the robot starts and ends outside of the overall maze. However as I mentioned this tactic will still be futile as I have to stop and change direction.

What do you mean by having to make two stops along the way? Stops at particular locations within the maze?

What, exactly, is involved in successfully navigating this maze?
