I read a while ago tha there are pros and cons to using shielded cable for an AC motor's power lines.

There is a special shielded cable for VFD's, although I have always had success with metallic flex conduit, the conductors should be twisted together.
In the case of low signal conductors it used to be the practice to only ground one end of the shield.
Now it is is recommended to ground both ends but this must go hand in hand with equi-potential bonding as per the PDF from Siemens, Ch6 on the shields .
