Hello,
When designing a circuit, I found myself with a few choices of surface mount ICs, all four of which looked like good choices. They each have different specs, and I just wasn't sure which would work better for my application. I ordered each for testing purposes.

I'd like to solder each to it's own test board, and then be able to insert/remove the test boards from the rest of the circuit at will. Needless to say, having to solder and then remove each chip and/or each board would be a pain.

Are there any spring contacts or other solderless methods (non-breadboard) that would work for my application?

Years ago we used these long spring pins to test boards. "Pogo Pins" There are 100 of different types.

The packages are MSOP-8 , SOT-89 , SOIC-8 , and TSOP-5 .
Of course, each will need slightly different circuitry to support it, but the main part of the circuit will not change.

 

There is maaaany adapter board types for surface mount chips that can connect to ZIF sockets.
