This question is so basic that I can't figure out how to search for it. I'm creating a PCB in esayeda and need to add a switch. The diagram from the spec sheet has 4 points to attach the nets to.

4 is ground (this I get)
1, 2, and 3 are giving me trouble.

I think that if the switch is in one position points 2 and 3 are connected, and if the switch is in the other position then points 2 and 1 are connected. Is this correct?

 

Correct. It is a symbol of a sliding switch. There is a small chance it has a "shorting" contact when sliding to the left, compared to the 2-3 contact spacing. It could just be the way it was drawn... (1-2 contacts are about same width as slider contact).
Thus, hard to say if 1-2 are contacted when slid to the left based on diagram and spacing illustrated.

 

It denotes a slide switch being 2 the common, and 1 to the left and 3 to the right the selected contacts. You are correct.

 

4 is ground (this I get)

Shows it as Earth GND !

 

So my best bet it to use 2 and 3 as my points to ensure that when the switch is in that position my circuit is closed and open when in the other position?
