The attached LTSpice circuit uses a single voltage source to represent the battery in a power path circuit. Can I represent multiple batteries simply with multiple voltage sources?

Assuming I have a package like this

can it be represented as a single cell or 5 cells in series? Do I need a series resistance?

You can simulate it this way...see below.
Use the PWL voltage sources to simulate rising and falling battery and adapter voltages.
