I think next to nothing positive will come out of this.

Why? you might ask. It's simple. If and when Kim will loosen the grip he has on his country-men and the NK's elite squad that follows his every order there will/would be in chaos and he would be hung from the highest tree.

He knows that and ain't willing to risk it.

People with power never give it to the powerless unless the power wasn't anything to speak of in the first place.

If by some chance we get a de-nuke agreement........What would be the time span for completion?

What would really be possible and reasonable?

It's rare but it's not never. Ever hear of George Washington?
Have you ever heard of Vigdís Finnbogadóttir? Thought not. She was the first Democratically elected female president on the planet. However that is beside the point.

Kim ain't surrendering his wealth and health with doing something stupid like giving his power away(Do I really need to echo myself here)

How did George Washington give His power to the powerless. Was he a king before or something?

Every president that we have had has given up his power......unless death in office.

We expect and demand it.

Edit: except for Trump...he hasn't been allowed power yet. Ha ha.

A phrase comes to mind: "Power Grabbers" ... they have always existed, and they will always exist until a country's population decides to change things for good ... the keyword being "population" and not just what down here we call a "group of interests" ...

Every country has them. Here the president has next to no power to speak of other than being the outwards face of the country sort of speak except the president can make a congress vote become a national vote. Which doesn't happen very often.

However it's one form or another of gangsterism being it solo or organised all over the world. In Iceland it's the congress and lower level politics but all have some ties to the business side of things. I have a sneaking suspicion that it isn't an isolated problem.

Many wanted him to be king, and there was not yet a pesky Constitution to prevent him from it. But George had fought for something different and would have none of it. Like I said, rare.

Admirable indeed ... but it wasn't just Washington who had that ideal ...

We had congressional meetings at the same place from 930-1798 here in Iceland having no kings until Norway and later Denmark came in like a hawk.

We abolished slavery before anybody non-native settled in NA (as far as the storybooks go) He might look good on paper but I've never hung out with him:p

Thanks for the head up sort of speak. I can't say that I've read that one but after a little digging I'm going to.
We should start a book club in this place ... seriously ... thing is, it's gonna be hard to stay out of politics, religion and ethics ... but hey... we all have beer in common, right?

We have a saying here which almost means it ain't over until it's over just not as aggressive meaning. It goes something like this when translated.

The soup hasn't been consumed though it is in the ladle. We'll see when the referee has blow the whistle.
