The Capacitor plague is over but the plague of poorly (not using tightly controlled processing and using materials of questionable quality) manufactured components and assembled devices from China still persists to this day.

The increasing power usage of computers and processors with the added heat pushed the limits of those, just able to make the minimum specifications, engineered to save production cost, capacitors. Those of higher quality could run slightly over spec for much longer until they popped.
