High Current Thyrister to Pop Breakers when DC Overvoltage Occurs

I'm reconfiguring a 36V DC supply (6 x 6V Golf Cart batteries) to 12V, using switches between the batteries to reconfigure a high current 12V output to power a 2,000 Watt Inverter.

I want to be able to switch them back and forth and intend using marine battery switches because they can handle high current. The batteries (3 sets of 6v+6v in parallel) will be recharged using a second separate truck alternator.

The 12V output will likely use circuit breakers.

I'm looking for a cost effective way for over voltage protection - in case I mistakenly switch 36V down the supply line which has size 0 conductor.

Is there a Thyrister type, and simple configuration that can act as a crowbar circuit? It's not the most elegant way but I'm looking for something quick acting that will allow the circuit breakers to open circuit as the Thyrister passes (conceivably) over 100A of current to ground.

Any ideas appreciated.

Thanks
