I have mentioned this earlier; I belong to an e-bike club. I would not put an untrustworthy battery a few inches from my crotch.
A club member actually suffered an accident with an Ebay pack that suddenly became exothermic. He bailed out and wasn’t burned, but had pavement rashes on half his body.
It could have been worse if motor vehicles had been in the vicinity.
Just be very, very careful.

What is the style of ebike? Is it a scooter or open frame bicycle?
How far do you expect to travel on a single charge?
E-scooters tend to use sealed lead-acid batteries (SLAB) because of the lower price.
A set of four 12V 8Ah SLAB will cost about $200 and will last for about 3 years.
36V lithium-ion batteries for ebikes run about $600-$800 and will last for about 5 years.

Where in Canada are you located? Have you tried Daymak?
As you said.
A set of four 12V 8Ah SLAB will cost about $200 and will last for about 3 years.
so that $400. for 6 year maybe 7 and your ass is not going to burst into flames from bad li-ons
watch the news these bad li-on batteries are causing fires all over toronto.
