Hey everyone.
I'm a Junior Hardware Developer at a Brazilian Company called Data Traffic.

I need help to design a DC Converter.
Its specs are:
- Vin: 12V
- Vout: 24V
- max Iout: 5A

A colleague suggested I use a MC33063.
The thing is its max output current is 1.5A (6th page of attached datasheet).
Maybe placing some other transistor in its output will allow some larger currents?

Anyway, any help (even different solutions) is much appreciated.

Yeah that's the configuration I'm talking about.
The problem this configuration only allows 1.5A peak current.
I need at least 5A average.

 

The basic chip can handle 1.5A. Adding the extra transistor will easily give 5A.
