My elderly neighbour has been locked out of his I pad. Once he enters his password, it now says "activation required" and wants him to enter an apple password that he has forgotten. He asked at the local store but they told him Apple do not retain details of accounts.
Has anyone had this happen and know how to resolve it? Any help appreciated.

It's also possible to use iCloud Find my iPhone/iPad features if you've enabled before being locked out.

 

I don't know about cloud stuff.

In the past, before the cloud, you would have to go through iTunes. Also. iTunes probably made a backup at some point, though if the user does not connect to comp regularly, the backup would be old.
